Check out our Pollution Exclusive

Pollution means adding unwanted substances to the environment that causes physical, chemical, social, mental injury or disaster is called pollution. Today, Pollution is  a global problem. About two hundred years ago, nobody knew the real meaning of the word pollution. In fact the word pollution didn't existed. From these years pollution has started growing up like a menace. One can find this menace existing in three forms that is Air, Water, Sound and Soil. Now-a-days social pollution also exists.
Pollution is a result of rapid unplanned urbanisation and industrialisation which causes severe effect on human and bio life. As a result of the pollution the bio-diversity is becoming extinct. The pollution in India has caused many Asiatic lions to become extinct. Many environmental changes have occurred.

Global warming is another form of pollution. Global warming in India has caused drought in Cherapunji (Cherapunji is a place which had maximum amount or rainfall every year since centuries) and has caused severe floods in surat district. These two incidents predict the horrendous face of Pollution. Global warming is indirectly nothing but pollution but it causes many terrible effects on the environment. If this continues then the polar ice will melt sinking us in the water.

According to the observation, The Capital city of Japan that is Tokyo is sinking 1 cm every year.

Air pollution occurs due to release of poisonous gases from factories, thermal power stations etc. This air pollution has caused depletion of ozone layer which causes the ultraviolet radiation to reach the earth. This causes skin cancer, damage to eyes, dysfunction of immune system of the body and lot more diseases. Air pollution causes respiratory diseases like Asthma, Bronchitis, Asbestosis, Silicosis etc.

Not all farmers are educated. Some of them are unknown about the use of fertilisers and due to incomplete information they use it recklessly. This decreases the fertility of the soil resulting in land pollution. Land pollution is caused by release of nuclear waste on open land. Land is also adversely affected by soil erosion agents like wind, water etc. To stop such natural agents check dams should be built.

Water pollution is one of the serious pollution causing damage to life of people. The sewage and effluents released in the water bodies like rivers and seas cause the water pollution. This water when used for drinking, the poisonous effluents enter the body and may cause death of the individual. The tragedy of Bhopal in 1984 killed thousands of innocent peoples due to leakage of poisonous and toxic gases from the Union Carbide factory. These gases when dissolve in water cause water pollution. Thousands of ascetics and people bathe in the river Ganga and cause water pollution.

Sound pollution or noise pollution is caused by loud speakers arranged during the time of Diwali and Christmas eve. It is also caused by continuous honking of horns by people on road. Too much of noise pollution subjected for a long time interval causes deafness and many ear diseases like otosclerosis etc. Noise pollution can cause mental effects too which can decrease the memory power of an individual.

Ever wondered why are lot of trees planted in the areas surrounding air port?

Density of the trees stop noise pollution and all other kinds of pollution. It means that trees are the only way to stop the pollution. Thick trees stop soil erosion, clutching soil beneath their roots. Trees also prevent air pollution by increasing oxygen level and decreasing carbon dioxide level. Trees have the capability to attract humid clouds and hence bring rain. This decreases the water pollution as the increasing water level dissolves the pollutants. So, Trees are demigods of this age as they are the only one who can protect us from the perilous and precarious devil of POLLUTION.

Alexander Graham Bell gave us the telephone in 1850 and opened the world of communication to us. This world has been contracted so much that you can call to America, U.K.etc to any part of the world at your finger tips. This grandson of telephone gives you instant access to Internet, your friends, and to the world. Google maps in this device helps you to see the world through a satellite without spending trillions of dollars behind a space shuttle. Simply turn on the Google maps application and watch it. This device is so efficient that it works for as much as 20-28 hours after charging it for just 2 hours or an hour more.

This is neither laptop nor some magical wand. It is just a commonly used inexpensive device termed as Mobile(or Cell phone). This palm sized device has made the world to shrink to a global village. Anyone could talk with anybody in the matter of seconds. Video talk has allowed every body to talk while watching each other in live environment. It can take the form of many devices in the matter of seconds. It can take the form of laptop/PC, space satellite, post man, messenger and many more. Today, It has become so popular that you can see the sweepers holding it in their hands.

When telephone were first introduced, people used to distribute sweets in their neighbourhood and among their relatives expressing their joy. The one who could afford telephone was considered to be the richest. They used to draw long wires from the telephone exchange to their houses. As soon as it became popular, thousands of people owned it and the sky was bounded by the long black wires. With the flow of time and the advancement in technology, telephone got contracted to a size what we call as mobile. It uses wireless technology and allows its use without an inch of wire. This handy device is even popular today.

Mobile has made the life of people a lot more comfortable. They can communicate with the instrument which is of the size of pocket. This device serves the role of camera, directory, computer, calculator, music player etc. It can do e-mailing, accounting and lot more. This mobile phone has brought a revolution in the country and it is easily affordable to common man.

This tool is extremely useful and handy. It is so popular that if you ask a 8-10 year old child to name the latest models of mobile, then he would answer in seconds. Yet, Besides having benefits, it also has some woes. People are addicted to habit of using it while driving and promote accidents. People are so much addicted that they use it for playing games, listening to music while on job. They lost their principles and the proverb:'Work while work and play while play.'. People snap the photographs of others and encroach the privacy of others. Evil minded people also send obnoxious and offensive photographs and disturb the young minds. Rolling explicit videos corrupt young minds. To prevent this government has put a ban on the rolling explicit videos and catching vulgar photographs. This trend has followed the foot steps of mobile. People also record private conversations between people. Misuse of mobile phones in the campus break the discipline.

In positive way they are helpful to parents to know the whereabouts of their children. Use of mobile phones in school and college interrupt discipline and hence a ban is put in their use in class.

From the health point of view, they emit radiations that are detrimental to delicate and vital organs of body. However the era of mobiles is going to continue but some strict action from the government and control of its use in some ways is needed to prevent the evil activities taking place.

Modern life is fast and competitive. Ambition is  buzzword and everyone is looking for it. In this competitive life everyone looks after money, fame and high position. In this frictional competition, man forgets about his or her health and runs after money. This causes entire rumble in one's life as it is rightly said that that "health is wealth". If you are healthy then you can definitely look after your goals, ambitions etc.

Stress can be defined as anxiety syndrome due to work pressure. Emotional, mental, physical and social tensions lead to stress. In the lure of money one gets worked up. This leads to several problems and ultimately leads to stress. One also gets stressed when he works beyond his limits. A normal worker was informed about the overtime charges in his office. Daily he used to work for 10 hrs that is 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM but now due to lure of money he worked  for 16 hrs that is from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This had lot of troubles in his life. His wife and children enraged on him. Stress began as head aches. He used to get rid of them by pills but from beginning he took one pill, the two and so on. This had several reactions. His doctor earned a lot from him. Ultimately he developed amnesia(a state where a person forgets everything including his wife, children, and in the ultimate stage he forgets himself.)and then he died. Stress can also take such horrifying form.

The modern life is pretty mechanical. The only way to throw off the villain of stress is to get refreshed and have some physical and mental exercise. Sports is the best way to cure stress. Yoga does a miracle by removing the devil of stress. It keeps mind quite and healthy and tones each and every part of body. Meditation works wonders. Mental tensions and stress is removed by meditation. Hasty life leads to several problems. One doesn't get time to have a balanced meal. One gets addicted to wrong food habits like drinking the cups of coffee every minute, intake of alcoholic drinks etc. They think that this helps to be away from stress. This is wrong. Being drunk, doesn't help you from being away from stress. It kills you. A drunkard faces several social, physical and mental problems.

A couch potato life style or being confined to chair leads to obesity and stress. Regular holidays and some relaxation and leisure from hasty schedules is a mantra for stress free life. One should have jolly nature and fruitful hobby to beat stress.

As a child feels relaxation in his mothers lap, man must spend time in relaxing in the soothing and tranquil laps of mother nature.

Androcles was a slave of a merciless and cruel master. He was fed up of his slavery and once he ran away into the forest and decided to hide. As he was passing through the dense forest, painful groaning of a huge mighty lion echoed in his ears. He followed the voice and came across the den. His first thought was to run away but his conscience could not see the lion crying in pain. After long thought, he decided to help the lion. As he went near, his heart beats ran high. He lifted the paw of lion and discovered that a thorn had got stuck. He carefully removed the thorn from the paw. Out of his surprise, the lion started licking him. He realized that lion had made him his friend.

Years later, Androcles was caught by men of his master. He was put in a cage, where a hungry lion was to be released on him. Thousands of people had come to see this event. Androcles thought that his death was near and became prepared to die. As the lion was released everybody starred uneasily. His friends however stood with tears in their eyes. Lion approached the Androcles but out of everybody's  surprise, lion stood beside Androcles and started licking  him. The master was shocked on seeing such an event, An event that has never happened before in the world. The lion whom Androcles had helped before recognized Androcles as his friend and inspite of killing him, licked him out of affection.

This is the love of wild animals towards man. Today, in return, what does man gives? Death. Death to the wild animals. Man is now killing wild animals and is betraying them because of his self-interested, egoistic and vernal desires. Wild animals are the only one who liven man's life. Wild animals help to remove stress(see: blog on Stress).Watching wild animals in cave does not give fun, but watching wild animals freely gives the real sense of pleasure. It is said that several ancient ascetics used to wander in the forest with lion or tiger in order to save themselves from other wild animals. Sculptures show that they did not tie them with belts, but on the contrary, they made them move freely. They used to make friendships with other animals on the way. This is the real compassion towards animals. Spending trillions or rupees on building sanctuaries, national parks and bio reserves is not what you call compassion but sparing some million acres for the innocent, solicitous and amorous animals.

Today poachers have been a pain in the neck of forestry department. If they wish then they could remove poaching by the root but today due to corruption, this problem could not me solved. The act of poaching arises due to gluttonous minds of people. Especially tribal people practice poaching. They have the need of money and so they earn money by killing animals and selling their hides, bones, teeth etc. This problem could be solved by giving them employment.

Today, Pollution(see: blog on Pollution) is also the cause of the extinction of wild animals. The polluted air produced by factories affect the environment of the wild animals adversely. This teaches humans that how the pollution affects the bio-diversity. Today, Pollution is the root cause of extinction of wild animals. Moreover the dangerous and horrendous effects of global warming(see: blog on Air Pollution) force the wild animals to migrate but out of the fear of man's cruelty, they refrain from migrating and as a result they die. Some natural factors are also responsible for the extinction of wild life like eruption of a volcano, tsunami, earthquake, floods, drought etc but these natural factors do not affect much than the manly factors. Forest fires, caused by the human carelessness or natural factors affect the wild life. Large number of animals are gulped in the event of a forest fire. People tend to go to nature camps but their they do not maintain discipline. When they go to see wild animals, they tend to through the packets of chips and chocolates which are so toxic that innocent animals, on eating it unknowingly face painful death.

Today, dire need has arisen for the preservation and conservation of the wild life. Human life is pretty mechanical and it is the wild life that prevents it. Planting dense and huge trees helps in saving the wild life. Nature is the dwelling of animals and was the home of man too but since man has renounced that home and has created his own sluggish dwelling in which he today cries for his misdeed.

Man is not the only one in this world, but along with him there are animals, plants and other bio life of whom he has to also take care.
