Picasa 3 - A Brief Review
Google’s all new Picasa 3 brings an artist in your computer itself. Now it’s no more just a photo editor but it’s a photo viewer too. While Picasa is set default as a photo viewer, it displays all your pictures in such a style that you won’t regret. Getting curious to have a look at screenshot? Take a quick look.
This user interface is perhaps very similar to the previous version, but internally, it supports a lot of options to tune-up your photos
Google’s screensaver that comes with it is a lot more nicer than before. It has a lot of transitions than before and also works smoothly. It’s search is also a lot effective than before and allows you to filter results with more options available.
Google Picasa 3 has a Windows movie Maker in itself. Based on selected photos, it allows you to create movies with quite nice transitions and effects.
And, the most important thing, as Google does, searching of picture and video(limited formats supported) as become faster than before as per our calculation. Surprised? Yes, Picasa supports many video formats including .mov format of Quick Time. So, this means that you can now enjoy HD Trailers downloaded from Apple.com with Picasa too! Thinking that this is enough? Hold on, Picasa brings you the freedom to geo tag photos over the Google earth. It also brings you a lot of display modes along with enhanced printing facility.
The main disadvantage that we faced was lack of scroll support. Still that scroll lever is intact. I have over 3,000 photos on my PC loaded in Picasa. I’m not complaining performance because it is working perfectly well but the scrolling is not improved yet. If I’m on first photo and want to scroll down lo last photo, then it becomes boring because you’ll have to keep that lever pulled down until you reach to last. You can’t just hold the scroll indicator and pull that all to the down. I suggest both the facility should have been there to make browsing in Picasa a pleasant experience.
